Even if you do not know any Belgian comics, it is fun to go on the trail of these painted murals.
It feels like a treasure hunt and takes you to through the historic center as well as off the beaten path. Most hotels and the tourist office will offer you a map signaling where each mural can be found. Don't let this fool you, it is not as easy as it seems. The whole walk is quite long and the murals can be tricky to find sometimes. We found one of them by chance as I went into a youth hostel to ask about where to find the mural and they told me they actually had it painted on one of their walls inside their building. A lot of fun for the family even though some of the areas it takes you too can seem a bit dodgy.
Not all the murals are easy to take a picture of as they are sometimes up very high or behind the fence of a public school. A great adventure nonetheless!
